Two Chinese businessmen were kidnapped and extorted by 13 people in Cambodia

Beijing [China], December 4: Phnom Penh Metropolitan Military Police arrested 12 foreigners and one Cambodian on charges of kidnapping two Chinese businessmen.
Major HengSaroeun, officer of the Phnom Penh Urban Military Police , said on December 3 that the suspects were arrested at a rental house in ChroyChangvar commune, ChroyChangvar district of Phnom Penh (Cambodia at 11 p.m. on November 30. , according to the Khmer Times today, December 4.
After the victim's complaint, the deputy prosecutor allowed police to raid the house where the two victims were held by the suspects and free them. "Police also confiscated related documents from the house," Major Saroeun said.
Two Chinese victims told police that the suspects tried to extort $50,000 from them in exchange for their release. The two victims have been returned to their relatives living in Phnom Penh and the investigation is still ongoing, according to Mr. Saroeun.
The suspects will be charged with illegal arrest and detention under Article 253 of the Cambodian Penal Code. All 13 suspects are still being detained at Phnom Penh City Court for questioning, according to Khmer Times .
"The military police received a call from one of the victims at military police contact number 1291, leading to the arrest of the suspects," Saroeun added.
