Trump disappointed with Russia-Ukraine negotiations

Washington [US], June 1: Speaking in the Oval Office on May 30, US President Donald Trump expressed dissatisfaction with both his Russian counterparts Vladimir Putin and Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelensky, according to Reuters.
The White House owner used the word "stubborn" to describe the two leaders' approach to negotiations.
Trump revealed that they were close to reaching a peace deal on Ukraine , but Russian missile attacks on Ukrainian territory destroyed that possibility. "We were about to solve the problem, and suddenly rockets hit some cities and people died," CNN quoted President Trump , adding that he was extremely disappointed.
The US and Russia are currently increasing pressure on Ukraine to agree to participate in the second round of negotiations in Istanbul (Turkey) on June 2. However, Kyiv has not yet agreed, citing the need to know the content of Moscow's peace talks proposals in advance. "More than a week has passed, and the Russians have not yet been able to present the content of the peace talks," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on his X account.
"For a meeting to be meaningful, the agenda needs to be clear, and the terms of negotiations must be fully prepared," Mr. Zelensky said after meeting Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Kyiv on May 30.
Russia said it would directly provide the content to the Ukrainian side at the negotiating table on June 2. However, Kyiv suspected the terms contained unreasonable and unacceptable demands for Ukraine.
