Protests denounce US military action

Washington DC [US], January 5: Hundreds of people gathered in some US cities, including New York, Atlanta, and Boston, denouncing the US bombing of Venezuela and the capture of President Maduro.
There were protests and marches in cities around the world, including Munich, Hamburg and Nuremberg in Germany, and Madrid in Spain, against the US aggression.
Spain and a group of Latin American countries also condemned the US military operation to arrest Maduro, calling it a violation of international law.
"We express our deep concern and rejection of the military actions unilaterally carried out on Venezuelan territory, which contravene fundamental principles of international law," the governments of Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Spain and Uruguay said in a joint statement on Sunday.
They said Washington had not respected Venezuela's "sovereignty and territorial integrity." The situation in Venezuela must be resolved through dialogue and "without external interference," and in line with the will of the Venezuelan people, the statement said.
