Jordanian, Algerian business representatives vow to boost bilateral trade

Amman [Jordan], August 21: Business representatives from Jordan and Algeria on Saturday called for efforts to overcome obstacles facing bilateral trade.
Business representatives from the Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA) and the National Confederation of the Algerian Employers (NCAE) also urged for more meetings, exchange visits and the enforcement of bilateral trade agreements as the two organizations signed here a memorandum of understanding to enhance commercial and investment cooperation, the JBA said in a statement.
Secretary-General of Jordan's Ministry of Investment Zaher Qatarneh called on the Jordanian and Algerian private sectors to advance economic and commercial ties, expressing the ministry's keenness to provide all facilities to Algerian investments in Jordan.
JBA Secretary General Abdul Rahim Beqai said Jordan endeavored to become a regional business hub and a gateway to regional markets.
For his part, NCAE representative Mohammed Tafart highlighted the importance of solid partnerships between the two countries and boosting investment activities between the two organizations.
Despite deepening bilateral ties, Jordan-Algeria trade exchanges are still modest, state-run Jordan News Agency reported Saturday.
The kingdom's exports to Algeria in 2020 amounted to 94 million U.S. dollars, whereas imports from the North African country stood at 125 million dollars, according to official data.
