Israel 'divides' the Gaza Strip

Tel Aviv [Israel], December 4: As Israel opens a new phase of the conflict with Hamas forces in Gaza, the United States increases pressure to force its allies to avoid causing further harm to Palestinian civilians.
AFP yesterday quoted information from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) saying that the country's infantry, air force and navy joined forces to attack more than 400 targets across the Gaza Strip in the first 24 hours since the agreement. The ceasefire collapsed on December 1.
Evacuation order in southern Gaza
Israel has launched a campaign in southern Gaza, with ongoing airstrikes in Khan Younis City and the surrounding area. Yesterday, the IDF issued a notice on its X account (formerly known as Twitter) warning Palestinians in Gaza to immediately evacuate Khan Younis City and some surrounding areas. IDF spokesman AvichayAdraee directed civilians to move to what he described as refugee zones in the western part of the city and provided a bold map of the areas to move. According to Sky News, the IDF is seeking to divide Gaza with the goal of controlling the south of this land.
However, UN officials and local residents said it was difficult to comply with Israel's evacuation order. The reason is that many people do not have information in the context of internet service interruptions in many places and frequent power outages.
The US increased pressure
Gaza health authorities said that as of yesterday morning, at least 193 Palestinians had been killed and more than 650 injured since the ceasefire agreement collapsed. Both Hamas and Israel blame each other for being responsible for the collapse. Israel recalled the negotiating delegation from Qatar, accusing Hamas of reneging on the agreement to release all women and children hostages.
However, Mr. Saleh Al-Arouri, the No. 2 figure in the Hamas government in Gaza, told Al Jazeera that the force is currently only holding hostages who are Israeli soldiers and civilians who once joined the army. Mr. Al-Arouri emphasized that Hamas will not continue to return hostages unless both sides cease fire and Israel releases all Palestinian prisoners.
Speaking in Tel Aviv on the afternoon of December 2, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the military campaign would continue "until Israel achieves all its intended goals", including eliminating Hamas forces in Gaza. "And victory can only be won by continuing the ground campaign," Netanyahu said, according to AFP.
During the tense situation in Gaza, US Vice President Kamala Harris said that too many innocent Palestinians were killed in Gaza and US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin emphasized that Israel has the responsibility to protect Palestinian civilians during the deployment process. launched a military operation in Gaza. French President Emmanuel Macron warned that Israel's determination to pursue the goal of eliminating Hamas could plunge the region into a decade-long conflict.
