Hanoi [Vietnam], October 1: The death toll from Tropical Storm Bualoi in Vietnam has risen to at least 19, with more than a dozen people still missing, most of them fishermen, authorities said on Tuesday. Most victims died in flooding, landslides, or from falling debris, while 92 others were injured, according to the disaster management authority. The storm also caused widespread property damage, destroying or partially damaging more than 120,000 homes and toppling around 50,000 trees, the authority said. The northern coastal province of Ha Tinh was particularly hard hit. Bualoi, which previously swept through the Philippines, made landfall north of the city of Vinh on Sunday evening, bringing hurricane-force winds, heavy rain and severe thunderstorms. The historic city of Hue, known for its temples and pagodas, was also affected. Over 40 flights have been cancelled in the region over the past few days, with many others delayed. The storm has also caused extensive damage to the agricultural sector. Meanwhile, heavy rainfall continued across various parts of the country, which, according to authorities, could trigger further flooding and flash floods in the coming days. In several cities, streets have turned into rivers.
