Bayern's Kompany full of pride despite own ban for semi first leg

Munich [Germany], April 17: Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany triggered a suspension after his booking in the epic Champions League win over Real Madrid but could only think positive thoughts on Wednesday.
His home side went behind after 34 seconds following a Manuel Neuer howler and ended up battling back to win 4-3 on the night and 6-4 on aggregate in a magical quarter-final against their bogey side.
"I found the guys very mentally strong today. We were twice behind and came back, the fans helped and the boys fought and fought. You get these moments because you keep on doing these sorts of things," he told DAZN.
"I am happy, the lads deserved it."
Kompany was yellow-carded after complaining of a foul before Kylian Mbappe put Real 3-2 up before half-time. Luis Diaz and Michael Olise won it for Bayern late on.
He found his booking harsh and repeated his call from Tuesday for a review of how many yellows should lead to suspensions in the Champions League given the expanded tournament over the last two seasons. At least his players avoided his fate.
"It is so strict," he said, while refusing to let it ruin a special night.
The Belgian will not be on the bench for the semi-final first leg against holders Paris Saint-Germain in late April.
Real coach Alvaro Arbeloa, under pressure now given Barcelona have a big lead in LaLiga, believes the second booking for Eduardo Camavinga on 86 minutes for a minor foul changed the match.
"It is unbelievable, you can't send someone off for this action, I think it is not fair in a match like that. We are very, very upset, very angry," he said.
"But also congratulations to Bayern Munich, they are a very, very, very good team with a very good coach."
Defensive midfielder Camavinga might have been able to stop Jamal Musiala's assist or Díaz for the crucial goal.
He added to TNT Sports: "That was a great match. We scored three goals and we had the chances to score more."
