Australia pays tribute to Bali bombing victims

Canberra [Australia], October 12: Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has paid tribute to the victims of the Bali bombings 20 years on from the terrorist attack.
"Australia today marks 20 years since the 2002 Bali bombings and tragic loss of 202 lives," Anthony Albanese said in a media release on Wednesday.
"Together, on what will be a difficult day for many in Australia, Indonesia and around the world, we honor the lives of the victims and the courage and resilience shown by survivors and their families."
Across the country on Wednesday services were held to honor those who died and the courage of survivors.
Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs Penny Wong hosted a memorial service at the Parliament House in Canberra, where victims' families, survivors and first responders will be joined by Governor-General David Hurley.
Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs, Tim Watts, traveled to Bali to attend a commemorative ceremony at the Australian Consulate-General.
"Australians united as a nation and recommit ourselves to fight against terrorism and extremism wherever we find it," Albanese told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
