12 injured in shooting near festival in Ohio

Washington DC [US], June 8: At least 12 people were injured in a shooting near a festival in the US state of Ohio on Saturday afternoon, police said. The Toledo Police Department said that officers responded to a report of one person shot in the area near the Old West End Festival when they "discovered multiple shooting victims."
Toledo Police Department Deputy Chief Joseph Heffernan said that the shooting took place near the Old West End Festival on Saturday afternoon.Heffernan said that it looked like there were "at least two shooters.
I think they were probably shooting at each other and what ended up happening was 12 people were struck with bullets." The deputy chief said that two people were in critical condition, adding that the scene was secure, but there were no suspects in custody. Heffernan said that extra police officers were on duty for the festival. "It happened very quickly, but it also stopped pretty quickly because there was a lot of officers that were right there," he said. The Old West End Festival is a yearly two-day event held in Toledo's historic centre which includes live music and food markets, according to organizers. Toledo, in north-western Ohio, lies on the shores of Lake Erie and has a population of approximately 260,000.
